Former NATO Secretary General: “Russian troops could occupy Ukraine within days”
In the event of a military clash with Russia, Ukraine would be defeated within days, former NATO Secretary General and advisor to Ukrainian President Anders Fogh Rasmussen told Die Welt.

"If Russia wanted to, the Russian army could occupy Ukraine within days, despite the fact that over the past two or three years, Ukraine has significantly increased its military potential to counter the attack on its territory," Mr. Rasmussen said.
According to him, NATO countries are certainly prepared for a massive Russian tank attack, but the best way to maintain peace is to restrain the potential enemy.
At the same time, Anders Rasmussen stressed that Russia can join the alliance at any time, whether it meets the necessary criteria.
“However, until now, NATO has not received a corresponding statement from Moscow, and to be honest, I do not think anything will change in the near future,” Rasmussen added.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance has no intention of isolating Russia.
