Da Nang and Hoi An won the "Asian Cityscape 2013" award.

The United Nations Human Settlements Organization in Asia (UN Habitat) said that Da Nang city and Hoi An city (Quang Nam province) have been selected for the "Asian Cityscape 2013" award.

Hoi An city is famous for its characteristic ancient houses.

The award was established to honor cities and regions that are considered exemplary in landscape design. The theme of the 2013 award is “Cities, the pride of the people”.

The award's evaluation criteria revolve around five main points: Harmonious combination between local and regional environments; Safety, convenience and sustainability; Respect for local and regional culture and history; High aesthetic quality; Many contributions to local development, the ability to become a typical example for other cities.

The award ceremony was held on November 26 in Fukuoka city (Japan).
