That was the announcement of Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee at the "Outstanding Women's Association Award" 2011 ceremony on March 6.

Among over 1,000 women’s associations, this year, the Da Nang Women’s Union has selected the 10 best associations to award the “Outstanding Women’s Association Award” in 2011, with a prize of 5 to 10 million VND for each association. At the ceremony, the grassroots Women’s Union and philanthropists supported the emulation program for poor women and children with a total amount of over 1.5 billion VND.

Speaking to all women members, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Ba Thanh said that from now until June, the city will focus on solving and arranging cheap apartment rentals for especially poor women and poor single women with one child whose registered residence is in Da Nang and who do not have a house. If each women member contributes 500,000 VND to the fund to support poor women, the city will support the corresponding amount to support women in difficulty to borrow at low interest rates.

The city will consolidate the entire system of residential groups and villages in the city so that villages and residential groups become the extended arms of the People's Committees of communes and wards. The City Party Secretary also requested that in the coming time, women's associations at all levels focus on implementing programs to reform bad teenagers and dropouts; say no to drugs and gambling; prevent domestic violence, and build a civilized urban lifestyle.
