Coal output through the port doubled over the same period. |
Typically, coal products doubled due to the additional coal supply for Vissai cement factories; iron, steel and equipment products increased by 2% due to the increased supply of equipment from China to Laos and Song Lam cement factory, which increased the volume of goods throughput.
In addition, container goods are continuously increased by shipping lines and new ships are added, while Cua Lo stevedoring enterprise has strengthened the work of clearing ships and arranging reasonable ship schedules, which has increased the volume of goods passing through the port by 15%.

However, in recent times, some traditional goods with large output through the port such as white stone, wood chips, and fertilizer have decreased significantly. Stone exporting enterprises have been affected by the state's macro policy of temporarily suspending the export of raw stone, while domestic consumption accounts for a low proportion, so the total output of all kinds of stone through the port has decreased sharply. The output of all kinds of stone has decreased by 23% compared to the same period.
Wood chip products also decreased by 12% due to the impact on the supply of raw materials for factories exporting goods through the port; some raw materials in western Nghe An have gradually been transferred to Thanh Hoa. In addition, businesses using small-capacity ships to export goods have not been allowed to improve or add more walls to the ships as before, which has reduced throughput.
Fertilizer products decreased by 9% due to the recent decrease in the amount of potassium products - the main product that accounts for a large proportion of fertilizer products - transited from Laos to China.
Mr. Tran Van Dat - Deputy General Director of Nghe Tinh Port Joint Stock Company, Director of Cua Lo loading and unloading enterprise said that recently, objective reasons have greatly affected the output of goods through the port. These are the slow economic recovery, harsh weather, drought, saltwater intrusion, crop failure, many changes in state policies causing some businesses to slow down or stop production, greatly affecting the import and export of goods through the port. Therefore, output has not reached the plan and only increased slightly compared to the same period; revenue and some basic economic indicators have decreased...
"Although the output through the port increased slightly, due to competition, lower unit prices and some low-value items, revenue decreased compared to the same period," said Mr. Dat.
