"Specially formulated for brain development"

(Baonghean.vn) -On September 13 and 14, 2014, the Vietnam Pediatric Association organized a scientific conference with the theme "Nutrition for children's brain development", sponsored by Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk).

The conference was attended by 800 doctors and medical staff in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The program was attended by Professor Dr. Nguyen Gia Khanh - Vice President of the Vietnam Pediatric Association; Dr. Rob Schmidt Haeri - Director of Science and Innovation for the Asia Pacific Region; Dr. James Bauly, Marketing Director for the Asia Pacific Region of DSM - Switzerland, a global corporation specializing in scientific research in the fields of health, nutrition and production of nutritional materials; Mr. Mai Thanh Viet, Marketing Director of Vinamilk's Powdered Milk Industry.

Overview of the conference

At the Conference, Professor Dr. Nguyen Gia Khanh - Vice President of the Vietnam Pediatric Association presented a scientific report with the topic: "Optimizing brain development in children in the early stages". Professor Dr. Nguyen Gia Khanh said: "Science shows that 0-3 years old is a particularly important stage to help children maximize their intellectual potential. This is when the baby's brain develops the fastest in structure and completes important functions and especially has outstanding development from 0-3 years old when the child's brain is 75% of an adult's brain. For children to have the opportunity to maximize their brain potential, parents need to pay attention to supplementing a suitable nutritional regimen. Besides the important nutrients for the brain that are quite familiar such as DHA, AA, Omega 3-6... a new discovery of nutritional science has shown that the nutrient Lutein also has a very special role, this is a pigment that accounts for 67% of carotenoids in the brain".

Research by DSM, the world's leading nutrition group, shows that Lutein is actually a carotenoid found in breast milk and found in the brain areas of infants in four main areas important for learning and development: Cerebral cortex, the auditory area related to language development; Frontal cortex is considered responsible for motor functions and problem solving; Hippocampus related to memory function; Occipital cortex is responsible for vision. Lutein is also found in the eye area, in which Lutein and Zeaxanthin are the only two carotenoids that protect the retina from oxidative damage and are very important for maintaining eye health. Thus, when Lutein is combined with brain-development nutrients such as DHA, the essential component of brain formation. These two nutrients combine to create effective brain-vision interaction and directly affect the structure and function of the brain for optimal development.

Also at the conference, Vinamilk representative introduced the new product Diealac Alpha Gold powdered milk for children.
