According to the investigation, this group usually has 6-10 people, both men and women, assigned specific tasks. When they detect a passerby with a lot of money in their pockets, they drive around them. When they reach an intersection, one of them will overtake and swipe the front of the "prey's" car, forcing them to stop.

From behind and around, the group of accomplices pretended not to be able to brake in time, crashed into the victim's car, and then yelled and pushed. When the victim panicked and focused on handling the incident, one of them would pickpocket the victim's wallet and phone, then accelerate and escape.
In mid-April, a Vietnamese man riding a motorbike across the Chu Y Bridge, to the intersection of Nguyen Bieu - Cao Dat (Ward 2, District 5), was approached by this group. Using the same trick, they picked the victim's phone, 1.5 million VND and 300 USD and then escaped. The entire incident was recorded by the dash cam of the car behind.
The Special Police Team coordinated with the district police to capture the group of thieves. The scouts discovered many gangs operating separately but were relatives and all led by Khai and Tien.
Recently, when this group staged a robbery at the intersection of Truong Chinh - Pham Van Bach (Tan Phu district), they were arrested by detectives. They admitted to committing 16 cases in the past.
The case is under further investigation.
