Vietnamese cultural features at Seoul friendship fair
With a performance of traditional ao dai and conical hats on May 7, the Vietnamese art troupe and other countries participating in the Seoul Welcome Festival (May 5-10) participated in a parade of traditional costumes on the streets of Seoul, South Korea before the opening ceremony of the "Seoul Friendship Fair 2011."
The Vietnamese flag flying alongside the Korean flag in the parade demonstrated the close friendship between Vietnam and Korea and especially attracted the attention and support of a large Korean public.

Cultural Counselor Nguyen Thi Thai Thong said that the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea has registered two booths to introduce Vietnamese cuisine, culture and handicraft products to the Korean public and international friends.
Unlike previous years, this year, Vietnam participated in the “Seoul Friendship 2011” fair with very careful preparation in both scale and form. The staff of the Embassy and departments enthusiastically responded to the work of promoting the image of Vietnam.
Vietnamese products introduced at the exhibition are very diverse, such as handicrafts, paintings, photos, books introducing scenic spots, and beverage products such as coffee and tea.
Many visitors visited the Vietnamese booth, especially Koreans who were very interested in Vietnamese ao dai, conical hats and silk scarves.
The food stall with the participation of Pho Sai Gon restaurant brought diners two typical Vietnamese dishes: beef noodle soup and fried spring rolls; two typical drinks: Hanoi and Saigon beer also attracted visitors to enjoy.
The Hanoi College of Art's song and dance troupe performed the opening act for the culinary portion of the opening ceremony and had a special music and dance program.
Within 20 minutes, Vietnamese artists performed a variety of cultural performances from many regions of Vietnam. From the graceful images of Quan Ho songs from Kinh Bac, the artists brought the Korean audience and foreign visitors to the fiery dance of the Central Highlands.
The Seoul Friendship Fair 2011 is one of three large-scale fairs in Korea held in three regions: Taegu, Seoul and Busan. The fair is scheduled to end on the afternoon of May 8.
