Russian Duma deputy advises new Ukrainian president not to repeat mistakes on Crimea

Vladimir Zelensky, who took office as Ukraine's president on Monday, has called taking Crimea back under Kiev's control one of his top priorities.
"Crimea is Russian land, and this is the main thing. Zelensky's statements about Crimea are personal illusions and populism. Crimea has never been Ukrainian, it has been part of Ukraine due to a forced situation and not the will of the Crimean people. Zelensky should not repeat the mistakes of his predecessors, it is better to start with fundamental respect for the decision of the Crimean people to return to Russia, thereby restoring historical justice," Sheremet told Sputnik.
“I hope that with the emergence of the new president, Ukraine will change for the better and become a prosperous, peaceful and friendly country. Our two countries are linked by history and long-standing brotherhood. Ukraine has never had a better neighbor than Russia.”
