Trump still wins the electoral college vote despite the most disloyal electors in history
(Baonghean.vn) - Republican candidate Donald Trump won the US Electoral College vote on December 19, officially becoming the next president, erasing the faint hopes of a small group of people who did not want him to enter the White House.

Trump won the needed 270 electoral votes and won, even though six US electors broke the rules to vote against their state's direction - the highest number of "faithless electors" in more than 100 years.
A group of Democratic activists from across the country are hoping to convince Republicans to cross the aisle and vote for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, who won the popular vote on November 8.
In the end, however, more Democrats “split” from their party than Republicans. Four Democratic electors did not vote for Clinton, while only two Republican electors “switched” from Trump.
Bret Chiafalo, 38, of Everett, Washington, was one of three electors in the state who voted for Colin Powell, the former Republican Secretary of State, instead of Clinton, arguing that he believed Powell was better suited for the presidency than Trump.
The founders of the United States “said that the Electoral College is not to elect a demagogue, not to elect someone who is influenced by outside forces, not to elect someone who is unfit to hold office. Trump does not meet all three criteria, unlike any candidate we have seen in American history,” Mr. Chiafalo said in an interview.
