When he was arrested, Mr. Thien claimed that he was innocent. After 8 days, he was released because the authorities could not prove his crime. "During the days in detention, I was devastated but clung to the belief that I was innocent and tried to piece together relationships to find out who wanted to harm me," he said and guessed that it was none other than Van.

Four days after his release, Thien began to collect evidence himself. Discovering that the phone number Van used was registered under his name, he checked and found that in the last two months Van had called and texted a female police lieutenant hundreds of times. Some of the calls lasted for hours at midnight.

"Van and this female lieutenant only knew each other briefly in a meeting, there couldn't be much to talk about," he guessed and wrote on Facebook his feelings, implying about the person who harmed him, with the purpose of making Van find a way to deal with it without being careless.

Along with that, he followed Van, put a recording device in her bag and discovered that she often told the female lieutenant about her concerns about "how to handle" when he knew about the trap.

"When I "turned the cards", Van confessed to having an agreement for 1 billion VND for the female lieutenant to provide drugs and set a trap," Thien said.

According to the indictment, due to a love conflict with Mr. Thien, Van had the idea of ​​​​putting her boyfriend in jail. Van confessed that she asked a female police lieutenant to provide drugs, which were hidden in Mr. Thien's car. After receiving his consent, Van was given 5 small packages of drugs by a stranger at a location on Trinh Cong Son Street, Tay Ho District, Hanoi.

She secretly took it and hid it under the passenger seat of the car and called the lieutenant to inform him. This female police officer called the Hanoi Mobile Police Team to report the administrative inspection of the car driven by Mr. Thien. In the Nam Tu Liem district, the police seized the drugs in Mr. Thien's car.

Regarding the statement that Van gave 1 billion VND to the female lieutenant to provide drugs, the police agency has separated it for investigation and handling later.
