Vinh University: Celebrating International Women's Day March 8

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of March 3, Vinh University's Trade Union held a ceremony to celebrate International Women's Day March 8 and the 1975th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung uprising.

Overview of the ceremony

This is an opportunity for teachers and students in the whole school to review the solidarity movement of progressive women around the world and also the anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung uprising, the first two female heroes who fought off the Northern invaders and regained national sovereignty. Promoting this fine tradition, over the past time, the team of female staff of Vinh University has been growing in both quantity and quality and constantly studying and training to improve their professional qualifications.

Currently, female staff accounts for nearly 53% of the staff and lecturers in the whole school. Of which, female Party members account for 51%, the number of women participating in the Party Committee, government, and trade union accounts for 26%. In terms of training level, the school currently has 6 associate professors, 42 doctors, and more than 200 masters. More than 110 women are graduate students and researchers at home and abroad. In recent years, there have been hundreds of scientific research topics, at the ministerial and provincial levels, chaired and participated by female staff, which have been highly appreciated. Many female staff are active in compiling course outlines, lectures, writing articles and have been printed in many prestigious newspapers and magazines.

Also on this occasion, Vinh University had an exchange with Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh, Vice President of the Vietnam Peace Committee, former Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee with the topic "Understanding and assessing gender equality in Vietnam".
