At the ceremony, Lao students interacted with Vietnamese students through a number of singing and dancing performances, highlighting the close-knit love between the Lao and Vietnamese peoples. The students were splashed with water to wish them luck and had strings tied around their wrists to celebrate the New Year. Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of Lao students expressed their deep gratitude to the teachers who cared for and taught them knowledge, and also always cared about their spiritual culture and customs. Although living far away from their homeland, these moments of welcoming the New Year felt like they were living in their own homeland.
Vinh Medical University currently has 54 Lao students studying there, coming from Bolikhamxay, Xiengkhouang and Huaphanh provinces under an educational cooperation program with Nghe An province.
On this occasion, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Nghe An province awarded Lao students with excellent academic achievements 10 scholarships worth 10 million VND.
