Congress of delegates of Science and Technology Associations of Nghe An province
This morning, October 28, under the chairmanship of co-chairman Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations of Nghe An province held the 5th Congress of delegates for the 2011-2016 term.
(Baonghean) -This morning, October 28, under the chairmanship of co-chairman Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations of Nghe An province held the 5th Congress of delegates for the 2011-2016 term.
Attending the event were Dr. Tran Viet Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, representatives of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa provinces. On the provincial side, there was comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Comrade Tran Hong Chau opened the congress.
During the last term, the Union of Science and Technology Associations has developed 10 more member associations, bringing the total number of member associations to 23, with 6 affiliated centers and institutes with 70,000 members. Over the past 5 years, the Association has published 39,000 scientific and applied newsletters to serve cadres and people; organized many competitions and Olympic competitions; opened 40 specialized seminars, organized 300 vocational training classes, professional training and science and technology transfer. The Association has also proposed and advised on scientific and technological initiatives to protect the environment with dozens of project topics, contributing to the cause of science and technology development, poverty reduction, and community development; participated in consulting and appraising investment projects.
In the 2011-2016 term, the affiliated Associations will proactively develop programs and projects that bring practical benefits to the community; improve the qualifications of the association's staff, have a mechanism to attract young, capable and enthusiastic staff; promote propaganda activities and disseminate knowledge, share experiences; introduce good examples and models; increase the application of science and technology in production and life; strengthen international cooperation in the field of research and application of science and technology...
Speaking at the congress, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee evaluated the results that the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations has achieved in the past time; announced the decision of the Provincial People's Committee to recognize the Union of Science and Technology Associations as a special association; and hoped that in the coming term, the Association will have many activities to contribute positively to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the homeland. On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of the province, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong presented the Union of Associations with the words "Union of Science and Technology Associations of Nghe An Province: Solidarity - Intelligence - Development".
Dr. Tran Viet Hung awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals with achievements in the Association's work during the 2005-2010 term.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong presented a banner to the Association.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations awarded Medals for the cause of Science and Technology Associations to 40 individuals; awarded Certificates of Merit to 23 individuals and 9 groups; the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 groups and 3 individuals for their many achievements in the activities and work of the Association.
The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the 5th term, 2011-2016, with 38 members; including 9 members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations. Comrade Tran Cong Duong, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, holds the position of Chairman of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations.
