The 8th Congress of Quynh Luu District Trade Union
(Baonghean.vn) -On December 3 and 4, the Quynh Luu District Labor Federation held the 8th Congress of Delegates for the 2012-2017 term, with the participation of 164 official delegates, representing 6,839 union members in 217 union organizations in the district.
Attending and directing the Congress were comrades: Nguyen Tu Phuong - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Confederation of Labor; Nguyen Van Thang - Secretary of the District Party Committee; representatives of departments, offices, branches and unions of the district.
During the past term, the trade unions at all levels in the district have closely followed the goals and tasks, innovated the content and methods of operation, focused on the grassroots, and used workers as the propaganda force, thereby achieving many results: Directing grassroots trade unions to coordinate and encourage workers to be exemplary in contributing to the construction of various funds launched by the Fatherland Front; The trade union and the district education sector mobilized support of 1 day's salary to build 15 gratitude houses for poor policy families with a total amount of more than 375 million VND. The campaign to build the "Trade Union Warm Roof Fund" collected 188,750,000 VND; supported the construction of 7 new houses and the repair of 1 house with a total amount of 135 million VND.
The position of the Trade Union in the political system is increasingly enhanced, workers are increasingly attached to the Trade Union. The average salary of workers in the district is from 2.7 to 3.5 million VND/month; many movements have been launched such as: "good worker movement, creative worker"; "Green, clean, beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene" movement... Women's work activities are increasingly vibrant in many diverse forms; Most of the female workers have registered to respond to the emulation movement "Good at public work - good at housework" and achieved many good results.
During the term, 49 new grassroots unions were established, 8 unions merged; and 1,433 new union members were developed. The rate of strong grassroots unions is increasing. Up to now, 78% of grassroots unions are strong (60% are excellently strong), 22% of unions are good, and there are no more average or weak units. Over the past 5 years, the whole district has had 36 collectives and 31 individuals awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag; 11 collectives and 19 individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the Prime Minister; 13 collectives and individuals received certificates of merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor...
Seriously pointing out the shortcomings and limitations in trade union activities in the 2008 - 2012 term, finding out the causes and lessons learned, with the motto "solidarity, democracy, intelligence and innovation", delegates attending the Congress enthusiastically discussed, contributing to the direction, goals and tasks of the district trade union in the 2012 - 2017 term with specific and practical goals and solutions.
The congress elected 21 comrades and the district trade union executive committee for the 2012-2017 term; elected 18 delegates to attend the 17th Nghe An provincial trade union congress.
