(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 6, the 20th Congress of Tan Ky District Party Committee, term 2015 - 2020, officially opened solemnly.
Attending and directing the congress were comrade Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors. 247 official delegates representing more than 6,547 party members of 62 party organizations in the entire district Party Committee attended the congress.

After the opening speech of the congress by comrade Nguyen Duy Thuy - Secretary of the District Party Committee, comrade Pham Van Hoa - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee presented a political report at the congress.
The report stated: In the 2010-2015 term, implementing the Resolution of the 19th District Party Congress, the socio-economic situation of Tan Ky district continued to develop.

19/24 socio-economic, defense and security targets were achieved and exceeded. The average economic growth rate in the past 5 years was 9.1%. The economic structure shifted in the right direction, in which the proportion of industry and construction increased by 2.57%; services increased by 3.45%; agriculture, forestry and fishery decreased by 6.05% compared to 2010. Average income per capita increased by 2 times compared to the beginning of the term, reaching 22.6 million VND/person/year. Politics were stable, defense and security were maintained, social issues were taken care of and had many positive changes, the material and spiritual life of the people was significantly improved. The Party was united and unified; the political system from the district to the grassroots level was consolidated, creating an important premise for development in the next term.

However, in the 2010-2015 term, Tan Ky still had 5/24 targets that did not meet the plan. Economic growth was not sustainable; economic structure shifted slowly, infrastructure did not meet requirements; the number of unemployed workers was still large; the lives of a part of the population, especially in remote areas, were still difficult; security in special areas still contained complex factors.

Speaking at the congress, Comrade Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Party Committee and people of Tan Ky district during the 2010 - 2015 term. Comrade Le Quang Huy also emphasized that Tan Ky is a mountainous district with many potentials and advantages compared to other mountainous districts with similar conditions, and is one of the three key economic regions of the Western region of the province. Therefore, he proposed that the congress focus on in-depth discussion and decide on the direction, tasks, and key solutions to strive for Tan Ky to become a fairly developed district in the Western region of Nghe An by 2020; building a strong Party Committee throughout the term.
To achieve these important goals, the district needs to focus on reviewing, supplementing planning and managing planning well. Focus on promoting restructuring of the agricultural sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development. Pay attention to attracting investment, developing industry, developing small-scale industry, building craft villages, villages with crafts, developing small and medium-sized enterprises. Exploit resources well, especially resources among the people to build infrastructure, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development in the area.
