During the past term, the Party Committee and people of Cua Lo town have strived to overcome all difficulties and challenges, achieving many important results in all areas... Notably, the average annual economic growth rate reached 9.8%. The economic structure shifted in the right direction, increasing the service and industrial sectors, the proportion of services accounted for 58.4%, industry and construction accounted for 36.2%, agriculture - forestry - fishery accounted for 5.4%. The total production value in 2010 reached 3,246 billion VND, by the end of 2015 it was estimated to reach 5,619 billion VND, an average annual increase of 11.5%. The average added value per capita in 2015 reached 64.5 million VND.

Service industries, notably tourism, continued to develop rapidly and steadily: The number of visitors increased and became more diverse, from 1.85 million in 2010 to 2.43 million in 2015, an average increase of 6% per year; tourism revenue increased from 725 billion VND in 2010 to 2,076 billion VND in 2015, an average increase of more than 20% per year.

Speaking at the congress, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested: in the next term, Cua Lo needs to review and adjust to build the Master Plan for socio-economic development and sectoral and field plans until 2020. Link the Town's planning with the Master Plan for socio-economic development of Nghe An Province until 2020 and with the Vinh City Construction Plan until 2030, vision 2050; effectively promote the Cua Lo sea tourism brand. Promote economic development, soon promote the role of the growth pole of the Province as set out in Resolution 26 of the Politburo. Develop industry, small-scale industry, craft villages; apply technology to agricultural and fishery development in the direction of commodity production to increase product value; Focus on developing the marine economy associated with protecting and preserving sovereignty over seas and islands.
