Congress of Vinh City Farmers' Association, term 2012 - 2017
(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, October 18, the Vinh City Farmers' Association held its 9th Congress for the 2012-2017 term. Nearly 150 delegates attended the congress, representing over 10,000 farmer members in the city.
Over the past 5 years, closely following the resolutions of the Party and Farmers' Associations at all levels, especially Conclusion 61 of the Central Party Secretariat on "Enhancing the role and responsibility of the Farmers' Association in agricultural development, new rural construction and building the Vietnamese peasant class in the period 2010 - 2020", the Vinh City Farmers' Association has been active and proactive in gathering members, creating solidarity and unity to implement the goals set out in the Resolution of the 8th Congress of the District Farmers' Association.
Welcome performance of the Congress
Currently, the city has more than 10,000 members, operating in 149 branches, an increase of 1,943 members compared to the beginning of the term. Through annual classification, nearly 100% of the Association's bases are classified as good; 5 units are excellent, no average or weak units. The Association at all levels always focuses on political and ideological education for members.
In particular, the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other reduce poverty and get rich legitimately" has had 1,454 households achieving the title of good production and business at all levels, of which 10 households achieved the central level, contributing significantly to promoting socio-economic development. The Congress also affirmed that the results achieved from the emulation movements of farmers are thanks to the significant role of the association at all levels in promoting service and support activities such as: linking with businesses to provide services of supplying materials and fertilizers with deferred payment; mortgage with banks to help members borrow capital; coordinate with vocational schools, community learning centers to transfer new science and technology, provide vocational training, and create jobs; Organized for members to visit and study model sites... Thanks to that, the rate of well-off households in the whole association increased to 50%, the rate of poor households among members decreased to 3.7% (down 13.8% compared to the beginning of the term). At the congress, delegates pointed out the limitations and drew lessons to continue to effectively implement the directions, goals, and main targets in the new term.
The congress elected 19 comrades to the new Executive Committee and elected 6 delegates to attend the higher-level congress. Mr. Phan Huy Hung was re-elected as Chairman of the City Farmers' Association for the 2007-2012 term.
On this occasion, Mr. Phan Huy Hung received the medal "For the Vietnamese peasant class".
