(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 21, in Vinh city, the 4th Congress of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An (2014 - 2019) took place.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Provincial Party Committee: Nguyen Van Thong - Head of the Provincial Internal Affairs Committee; Le Xuan Dai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association and more than 500 members of the association.

In 1957, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee decided to establish the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Association and assigned comrade Dang Thai Mai, Standing Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Association, to direct the organization and construction of the Vietnam - Soviet Union Nghe An Association. Over the past nearly 60 years, through many changes and ups and downs of political history in the Soviet Union, the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Association (later the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association) has been constantly consolidated and developed; always innovating its content and methods of operation, practically serving as a bridge, fostering the traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam - Soviet Union/Russia in Nghe An.

As a socio-political organization of the province, a member of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Nghe An province, the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association has gathered nearly 500 members, operating in 8 branches; in many fields in the province. In addition, the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association also promotes activities connecting Nghe An - Russian Federation, Nghe An - Ulianov. For example, in July 2012, a "Connection Program" was signed between the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An and the Vietnamese community in Ulianov province. The connection between the two associations, the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An and the Association of the Vietnamese community in Ulianov province, is constantly being consolidated and developed, serving as a bridge to foster the Vietnam - Russia friendship and solidarity between the two provinces in the period of renovation.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thong awarded the Emulation Flag: "Unit excellently completing its tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2012" to the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association.

With outstanding achievements, the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister in 2013 for: "Having many achievements in contributing to socialism and protecting the Fatherland"; The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded a Certificate of Merit "Unit with 5 consecutive years of excellent performance in 2006 - 2011"; Emulation Flag: "Unit with excellent performance in tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2012" and a Certificate of Merit from the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in 2011.

The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals who have contributed to the movement of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association in recent times.

On this occasion, the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An elected the Executive Committee of the Association for the 4th term (2014 - 2019), comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Head of the Provincial Internal Affairs Committee held the position of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An for the 4th term.
