Congress of Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Nghe An province for the term 2015 - 2020

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 24, the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Nghe An province held the Congress for the 2015 - 2020 term.

Attending and directing the Conference were comrades Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vo Viet Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Du - former Director of Nghe An Department of Transport - Chairman of the first term Association; Nguyen Hong Ky - Director of Nghe An Department of Transport, Vice Chairman of the first term Association. Also attending were comrades leading departments, branches, sectors, districts, towns and members.

Overview of the congress

The Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association of Nghe An Province was established in 2008 under Decision No. 3385/QD-UBND dated August 1, 2008 of the People's Committee of Nghe An Province. During the past term, the Association operated under many difficulties due to lack of funding, means and working facilities. However, the Association has made great efforts and found effective measures to operate effectively, creatively, and excellently complete the tasks set out in the Association's charter.

The Association has become a bridge to help Vietnam strengthen its friendly relations with Japanese partners through the following activities: implementing friendly exchange programs, organizing propaganda to introduce and promote the image of Nghe An to Japanese friends, acting as a bridge for Japanese and Vietnamese partners to cooperate with each other, and mobilizing sponsorship from Japanese organizations.

In particular, the Association has coordinated with the Japan-Vietnam Association in Japan to act as a bridge for Kasumigaura City of Japan to establish friendly cooperation with Vinh City of Nghe An. The Association's exchange activities with the Japanese Embassy have been regular and successful, with the most notable achievement being that the Japanese Government has committed to providing non-refundable aid to the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association for the project of supplying domestic water to Nam Thanh commune, Nam Dan district.

The Vietnam-Japan Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Orphans in Vinh City also mobilized 770 manual wheelchairs and some other funds from the Disabled Welfare Association of Okayama Prefecture, Japan.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Du emphasized the importance of friendly exchange activities with Japan.

The Congress spent a lot of time clarifying the lessons learned from the results achieved in the first term and analyzing some remaining limitations in the leadership and direction of the Association's Executive Committee. The Congress also discussed and agreed on the direction, goals, tasks and solutions for the Association's activities in the 2015-2020 term, including promoting information and propaganda work for people's foreign affairs, strengthening and expanding relations with Japanese partners, innovating the content and methods of friendly exchanges, strengthening the organization and development of the Association, participating in exploiting foreign aid sources, etc.

The congress elected 29 comrades to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Nghe An province for the 2015 - 2020 term. At the congress, the Association and many members were also honored to receive certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee for their many contributions to people's foreign affairs activities.
