Today (December 27), the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union (VYU) for the 2014-2019 term officially opened. This is an important political event for the youth of the whole country, a festival uniting all classes of Vietnamese youth, marking a new step of development for the Union and the youth movement. On this occasion, many students and young people shared their concerns about practical issues such as career guidance, job creation, youth lifestyle, etc.

Pham Ha Thu, a second-year student at Foreign Trade University, shared: “As a member of the Youth Union, I hope that the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union will gather the intelligence of all participating delegates; at the same time, I hope that the Congress will consult and elect talented and dedicated people to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union so that the position of Vietnamese youth will be increasingly affirmed in the international arena.

In the current period of integration, the Youth Union needs to clearly demonstrate its pioneering and leading role for the youth, worthy of being the largest youth organization in Vietnam. I hope that the Congress will become a political forum, truly a great festival for all youth classes nationwide."

Having participated in a number of student and youth movements at the grassroots level, what makes Thu worried is the awareness and lifestyle of a part of young people today that is really worth paying attention to. Thu believes that currently, many young people are not willing to work hard, study, and do not have the will to rise up and enrich themselves and society. The crime rate among young people tends to increase, corruption, bureaucracy, moral degradation, and lifestyle among a part of cadres and party members... Therefore, political and ideological education is the key work that the Youth Union can do to help young people develop in the right direction.

"I hope the Congress will make practical suggestions on how to change the perception of lifestyles of young people in the integration period. How to regularly discover and set typical examples, build and replicate typical examples, and make good values spread in the youth community," Ha Thu suggested.

As a student about to graduate, Tran Mai Linh (student of Foreign Trade University) is interested in the core task of the Vietnam Youth Union in the next term, which is the career guidance program and job creation for young people.

Mai Linh said that in the last term, although the Vietnam Youth Union actively organized many career guidance programs, the situation of unemployed graduates is still very common. This comes from many reasons. However, it can be seen that a common situation is that the training and vocational training programs in schools today are still theoretical, with little practice, leading to the fact that graduates have low professional skills. In addition, businesses also pay little attention to new graduates because they often have to spend a whole step of retraining from the beginning, causing waste for society, for businesses and for the students themselves.

“Therefore, in addition to innovating vocational education and training at schools, the Association at all levels needs to pay more attention and closely monitor to help young people have the opportunity to access the labor market as quickly as possible,” Mai Linh expressed.

Tran Dat, a second-year student at the Banking Academy, also hopes that the Association will go straight to the issues that young people need today, such as helping them find jobs, improve their qualifications, and equip them with skills... because that way the Association's image will be close and intimate with young people's lives.

Following the achievements of the Vietnam Youth Union in the past term, Tran Dat is proud to see the green volunteer shirts always attached to community life in activities of building new rural areas, donating blood, caring for the poor... In the fields, in factories, in offices, from urban to rural areas, there are footprints of the green shirts.

However, besides the achievements, Dat said that it seems that the information of the Association reaching young people is not much, not widespread, so sometimes young people want to learn and register to participate in activities but do not know where to find. Especially young people in rural, remote and isolated areas do not have many playgrounds to participate. “I hope the Association has more ways to get closer to young people. Let's make young people aware that the Association is a place where they can send their thoughts, feelings, aspirations, passions or share their concerns and worries, a place where they can find faith and optimism to enter a colorful life. The Association is also a place to awaken the sense of responsibility in young people through activities that are useful to society. Therefore, we hope that the Association will always be a companion, inspiring creative ideas in young people through many forms of organization according to their profession and interests", Tran Dat shared./.
