Congress of Vietnamese Youth Student Association in Japan

On the afternoon of January 20, the Vietnamese Youth and Students Association in Japan (VYSA) held a congress to elect the executive board for a one-year term (January 2013-January 2014).

Speaking at the congress, Counselor Nguyen Phuong Hong, on behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, highly appreciated VYSA's positive activities over the past year, hoping that VYSA will continue to be a central factor in helping Vietnamese students and youth in Japan strengthen solidarity and support each other in study, research and daily life.

She also hopes that VYSA will continue to actively participate in exchange and foreign affairs activities, including activities towards the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations in 2013. Minister Counselor Nguyen Phuong Hong said that the Embassy will continue to support VYSA's activities in the coming time and wished the congress a great success.

Japanese Foreign Ministry Secretary Kyoshi Shimonishi said that Vietnam-Japan relations have developed very well with the exchange of visits by high-ranking leaders of the two countries, especially in the context that the two countries are approaching the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

According to Mr. Shimonishi, in addition to enhancing high-level exchanges, Japan also wants to promote people-to-people exchanges and he hopes that more Vietnamese students will come to Japan to study to acquire advanced knowledge and technology, and at the same time understand more about Japanese culture and people. After returning to Vietnam, they will actively contribute to building the country and become a bridge to enhance exchanges between the people of the two countries.

At the congress, former VYSA President Nguyen Thi Thu Hong announced the election results of the new executive committee chaired by Ms. Le Minh Ngoc.

In an interview with VNA reporters after the congress, First Secretary in charge of culture and education Do Van Trung highly appreciated VYSA's activities in creating a healthy and useful playground for students, supporting each other in study and life, as well as contributing to promoting friendly relations between students and youth of the two countries in particular, as well as the people of the two countries in general.

He said that in the near future, the Embassy and the new leadership of VYSA will have meetings to coordinate activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.

New VYSA President Le Minh Ngoc said that VYSA will continue to maintain and further promote movement activities, especially actively coordinate with the Embassy and agencies and organizations of Vietnam and Japan to organize events to celebrate the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year 2013./.
