North Central Hydrometeorological Station receives Emulation Flag from Government
On the afternoon of December 20, the North Central Hydrometeorological Station held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary and receive the Government's Emulation Flag.
Attending the Ceremony, on the Central side, there were leaders of the National Hydrometeorological Department; Representatives of agencies under the North Central Hydrometeorological Station located in Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh provinces.
On the side of Nghe An provincial leaders, there was comrade Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The opening speech of the leader of the North Central Hydrometeorological Station and the report at the Anniversary Ceremony reviewed the unit's 30-year development journey, recognized the advantages and difficulties, and oriented the work goals in the coming time.
The North Central Hydrometeorological Station was established on December 20, 1994 on the basis of merging the Thanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station and the Nghe An - Ha Tinh Inter-Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, with the management area including 3 provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh. The North Central Hydrometeorological Station is responsible for organizing and implementing basic investigation activities, meteorological and hydrological forecasting, serving natural disaster prevention, socio-economic development, ensuring security and national defense within the scope of 3 provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

In the early days of establishment, measuring and forecasting equipment was still lacking, forecasting by manual - traditional methods posed many great challenges for the industry, people and the profession of hydrometeorology. Up to now, outdated measuring equipment has been gradually replaced by semi-automatic, automatic, self-recording, self-reporting equipment... The equipment and information infrastructure of the Station are assessed as modern and basically serve the work of directing, operating, informing and forecasting, hydrometeorology warning quickly, promptly, accurately and conveniently.
Up to now, thanks to the timely and effective application of scientific advances, the forecasting and warning work of the North Central Hydrometeorological Station has had remarkable changes in both quality and quantity, as well as diversifying the forms of information aimed at each user. Accordingly, the information content has extended the period of weather forecasting and early warning of natural disaster trends to 10 days.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in recent times, the Hydrometeorological Station has performed well the role of a professional agency, meeting the increasing requirements for weather forecasting and warning in the context of constant changes in the global climate. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hopes that in the coming time, the Hydrometeorological Station of the North Central region will continue to focus on improving the capacity for forecasting and warning of natural disasters, and enhancing the application of modern technology to improve professional efficiency. Expand and upgrade the hydrological monitoring network fully and accurately to serve early and timely warnings so that people and localities can promptly respond and proactively plan production and life. At the same time, cooperate well with international hydrometeorological forecasting organizations, develop strategic solutions, develop plans to respond to climate change, focus on protecting upstream areas, and make long-term forecasts to contribute to formulating policies for local, regional and national economic development.

Recognizing and praising the efforts of the North Central Hydrometeorological Station in recent times, comrade La Duc Dung - Deputy Director General of the National Hydrometeorological Department requested the Station to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity to perform its tasks well. Continue to arrange a streamlined and efficient organizational structure. Strengthen training of staff and the quality of forecasting and warning. At the same time, constantly modernize the network of machinery and infrastructure systems to serve the profession in a synchronous and smooth manner. Pay more attention to early warning and forecasting, coordinate synchronously with local authorities at all levels, contribute to proactively responding to natural disasters with localities and people, and promote the effectiveness of weather forecasting work.

On this occasion, the North Central Region Hydrometeorological Station was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Prime Minister for its excellent and comprehensive completion of its tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2023 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The Prime Minister also awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 individuals and groups of the North Central Region Hydrometeorological Station for their outstanding achievements in 2024. The Chairmen of the People's Committees of Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, and Ha Tinh provinces also presented banners and many Certificates of Merit to groups and individuals of the North Central Region Hydrometeorological Station for their outstanding contributions in 2024.
