Buddha's Birthday Ceremony at Dong Yen Pagoda
(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of May 23, at Dong Yen Pagoda (Quynh Thuan, Quynh Luu), the VESAK Buddha's Birthday Ceremony was held, Buddhist year 2559 - DL- 2015.
Attending the ceremony were Venerable Thich Tam Ngoc - Deputy of the Legal Department - Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province, Venerable Thich Nguyen Quang - Phuoc Hung Pagoda (Dong Thap), representativesDepartment of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Home Affairs; Quynh Luu district, local authorities and a large number of people and Buddhists.

Dong Yen Pagoda in Duc Long village, Quynh Thuan commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province was built in the 15th century. Every year on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month, on Buddha's birthday, people in the village and commune come to burn incense, recite Buddha's name, and perform spiritual activities according to the national cultural identity. From these cultural values, on December 5, 2014; Nghe An People's Committee issued Decision No. 6819 / QD - UBND-NC approving the restoration of Dong Yen Pagoda in Quynh Thuan commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province.
The Vesak Buddha's Birthday Festival, Buddhist calendar 2559-DL-2015, is an occasion for Buddhists to gather to create faith, direct their minds, and develop a life according to Buddhism, to contemplate together the peaceful message of Buddha, and to promote knowledge, morality, and the compassionate spirit of Buddhism.

The opening ceremony of the Buddha's Birthday took place in a solemn atmosphere.solemn with rituals such as offering incense and flowers to celebrate Buddha's birthday, lighting candles, releasing flower lanterns to pray for national peace, people's peace, and happiness for all beings.
On this occasion, Dong Yen Pagoda and Nguyen Quang Charity Buddhist Group organized to give 5 bicycles to 5 poor but studious students, each bicycle worth 1,200,000 VND.
