Buddha's Birthday Ceremony at Hong Phuc Pagoda
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 7, Hong Phuc Pagoda (Nghi Loc) solemnly held the Buddha's Birthday Ceremony, Buddhist calendar 2559 - DL 2015.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province; representatives of the leaders of the Religious Affairs Department - Department of Home Affairs, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Nghe An Provincial Police, leaders of the District Party Committee, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Department of Home Affairs of Nghi Loc district and local authorities, about 1,000 monks and nuns and a large number of Buddhists.

Hong Phuc Pagoda in Nghi Long Commune, Nghi Loc District, is an ancient pagoda that has existed for a long time. However, through the ups and downs of history and the devastation of war, the pagoda has been damaged, degraded and lost some valuable artifacts. Currently, the pagoda only has the foundation and relics of the pagoda. To meet the spiritual and religious needs of monks and Buddhists near and far and to restore the original value of Hong Phuc Pagoda, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 129/QD-UBND -NC dated January 10, 2013 on approving the restoration of the Buddhist facility (Hong Phuc Pagoda). In early April 2014, the Executive Committee of the Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An Province made an official decision to appoint Venerable Thich Chau Phong - Head of the Legal Department of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An Province as abbot of the pagoda.

At the ceremony, the 2015 Buddha's birthday ceremony also took place. Monks and delegates, along with hundreds of monks, nuns, and Buddhists, participated in chanting Buddha's name to pray for peace and prosperity for the family, offered flowers to congratulate Buddha's birthday, performed incense offering and flower offering ceremonies to the Buddha, performed the traditional Buddha bathing ceremony, released balloons and doves to pray for national peace and prosperity.

It is known that currently in Nghi Loc district there are 15 pagodas. Up to now, the Executive Committee of the Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province and the Provincial People's Committee have allowed the restoration of 7 pagodas and appointed 2 Venerables to preside over Hong Phuc pagoda and Phuc Lac pagoda with nearly 5,000 Buddhist followers participating in activities.
