General Phung Quang Thanh goes to France for medical treatment

This morning (July 2), speaking with VOV.VN about the health of General Phung Quang Thanh - Minister of National Defense, Professor Pham Gia Khai - member of the Central Health Care and Protection Board said: "Mr. Phung Quang Thanh and a team of military doctors went to France for medical treatment. I have not yet received specific information about the General's health. Mr. Phung Quang Thanh went to France for a lung check-up, starting from June 24 to today (July 2). It is expected that Mr. Thanh will be in France for about 2 weeks."

Regarding Mr. Thanh's health, Professor Pham Gia Khai said: "Mr. Phung Quang Thanh suffered an injury during the war against the US. We have examined him and found no special signs, no abscesses, no cancer. Recently, Mr. Thanh has been coughing up blood. We have performed a bronchial biopsy but have not found any signs. To ensure accurate and careful results, we have sent the results to France to check the pulmonary fibrosis. Currently, the results have not been sent back to Vietnam."

Professor Pham Gia Khai also added that, up to this point, he has not yet received information that Mr. Phung Quang Thanh has had surgery.
