Nghe Tinh Vi Dam folk songs officially considered for UNESCO recognition
(Baonghean.vn) - On November 24, at 9:30 a.m. (Paris time), in Paris - the capital of the Republic of France, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO held its 9th session. At this session, the Nghe Tinh Vi Giam Folk Song of Vietnam was officially considered for recognition as a representative "Intangible Cultural Heritage" of humanity.
(Baonghean.vn) - On November 24, at 9:30 a.m. (Paris time), in Paris - the capital of the Republic of France, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO held its 9th session. At this session, the Nghe Tinh Vi Giam Folk Song of Vietnam was officially considered for recognition as a representative "Intangible Cultural Heritage" of humanity.
The meeting was attended by 129 countries with more than 900 delegates. The Vietnamese delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO; the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to UNESCO; leaders of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts; leaders of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. On the Nghe An side, Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the meeting.

UNESCO's inclusion of Nghe Tinh Vi Giam Folk Songs of Vietnam in the Representative List for this honor contributes to promoting exchanges between communities, artists and researchers; raising awareness of the importance of intangible cultural heritage at the local, national and international levels; strengthening safeguarding measures aimed at supporting communities in transmission and teaching methods, oral transmission as well as in official education programs will be carried out with the active participation of students, experts, specialized organizations and with the active support of the State.
The nomination dossier of Nghe Tinh Vi Giam folk songs was built with the participation of community members, local authorities, specialized organizations and experts, community members voluntarily nominated and committed to protecting; The heritage has been inventoried by the Vietnam Institute of Musicology since 2010 with the participation and contribution of the community; in 2012, Nghe Tinh Vi Giam folk songs were decided by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to be included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
