Legendary John Lennon's guitar has a "huge" price
A guitar belonging to the legendary John Lennon, which was stolen in the late 1960s, has been sold for nearly $2.5 million, becoming one of the most expensive musical instruments in the world.
For decades, the 1962 J-160E Gibson guitar was owned by musician John McCaw, who bought it in the late 1960s without knowing it was stolen from The Beatles at a Christmas concert in December 1963, said Darren Julien, a representative of the auction house. The guitar was authenticated thanks to the serial number and wood material.

Half of the proceeds from the sale of the guitar will be donated to the Spirit Foundation, a charity founded by John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono. The buyer of the guitar, who paid $2.41 million at Julien's Auction, asked to remain anonymous.
Although it was only in Lennon's possession for a little over a year, the guitar has an illustrious history. The singer bought the guitar from a Liverpool music store in 1962 and used it on several of the group's recordings, including "P/SI Love You" and "Love Me Do."
He also used it when writing famous hits with Paul McCartney, such as "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "All My Loving." The guitar is considered an important part of Lennon's career and the Beatles.
The $2.41 million price far exceeds the $965,000 paid for Bob Dylan's electric guitar at a Christie's auction in 2013.
That guitar was used by Bob Dylan to perform a medley of rock songs at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, shocking all the traditional folk singers. But according to Guinness World Records, the most expensive guitar ever sold at auction was for charity in Qatar in 2005, for a whopping $2.7 million.
