Japanese people are 'bored' with sake
Sake makers in Japan are looking for ways to expand export markets as the beverage's popularity among the country's people is declining.
Japanese government figures show that domestic sake consumption in the country reached 557 million liters in 2014, down significantly from 746 million liters a decade ago. The sake market in Japan has continued to shrink as many people have switched to Western drinks, so the hope for the sake industry is the export market.
