(Baonghean.vn) - During the 80 years since its establishment (March 28, 1945 - March 28, 2015), the militia and self-defense forces in general and the maritime militia in particular have made extremely important contributions in the resistance wars against invading enemies; together with the armed forces, they have created miracles in the history of the revolutionary struggle of the entire nation.
In the current period, the maritime militia continues to be the core factor in protecting the sea and islands, protecting Vietnam's territory at sea. All for the goal of peace, independence and development.

| In 1965, Mr. Ngo Sy Ai (pictured) and his cousin Ngo Sy Guom (deceased) were on their way to receive weapons from Dien Chau district team when they unexpectedly encountered enemy aircraft. With a courageous spirit, with 6 machine gun bullets, the two men shot down an RF 101 aircraft on the spot. Mr. Ngo Sy Ai made the gun mount, and Mr. Ngo Sy Guom pulled the trigger. |
