Offering incense in memory of Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac

(Baonghean) - With the philosophy of "When drinking water, remember its source", on February 3, 2012, at Nghe An Traditional Medicine Hospital, Central Traditional Medicine Hospital, Nghe An Department of Health solemnly held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate the 221st death anniversary of the great physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac and the traditional day of Vietnamese Traditional Medicine.

The delegates offered incense, commemorated and reviewed the life and noble career of Hai Thuong Lan Ong for the country's traditional medicine; highlighted the teachings of the "9 medical teachings and proverbs" that he left behind, which were adopted by the Ministry of Health as "Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy Ethics". He collected and discovered more than 300 Vietnamese medicinal herbs (Linh Nam manuscript), compiled 2,854 empirical remedies, and authored the massive book Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh consisting of 66 volumes, distilling the quintessence of traditional medicine. He always focused on building medical ethics, proposing 9 teachings in "Medical teachings and proverbs" to teach physicians, which still have their full value today.

The life of the Great Physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac is a beautiful image of a physician with profound knowledge, a high sense of responsibility, sacrifice, patience, dedication, and boundless love for patients. He is truly worthy of being the one who raised the "scarlet flag" in the country's medical field, a shining example of medical ethics - medical morality - medical skills for future generations to follow.
