(Baonghean) - In 2010, veteran Nguyen Duc Tu retired but still actively participated in activities in hamlet 9, Dien Loi commune (Dien Chau), was elected as the hamlet Party cell secretary and Chairman of the commune's Association of Agent Orange Victims.

With more than 30 years of experience working in the locality, Secretary Nguyen Duc Tu focused his intelligence with the Party Committee and the Hamlet Executive Committee to issue a specialized resolution on economic restructuring, land consolidation, plot exchange, and building a high-income field model. For more than 100 hectares of bare hills, he consulted with the Commune People's Committee to allocate land and forests for long-term use by the people, converting 38 hectares of wet rice fields to grow two crops of spring and summer-autumn rice each year, and growing corn and sweet potatoes on wet soil in the winter. Due to the implementation of crop rotation, land use reaching a coefficient of 2.8 times/year, and proper care according to technical processes, crop yields were high (hybrid rice reached 70 quintals/ha, corn reached 48 quintals/ha/crop).

Comrade Nguyen Duc Tu and the Party Committee also guided the people to transfer some laborers to trade and services, contribute capital for their children to go abroad to work, learn a trade to work in industrial zones inside and outside the district, and assigned specific tasks to each Party member to help households overcome difficulties and boost production. In particular, Party members are always exemplary, taking the lead in economic development, contributing to the construction of the new rural area. A typical example is Party member and war veteran Phan Minh Duc who invested in building a forest garden and home garden with an area of ​​7.4 hectares, planting more than 100,000 pine, eucalyptus, and xoan dau trees. Comrade Le Trung Hieu built a model of raising hill chickens, 3 batches a year, each batch of 2,000 chickens.

Since then, many households in the hamlet have actively worked in production and economic development, so their lives have gradually stabilized. In the campaign of the whole people "joining hands to build the new rural area", comrade Tu has promoted and mobilized 173 households in the hamlet to actively participate in contributing from 30 to 40 working days, from 600,000 VND to 1 million VND each family to consolidate fields, exchange plots, build large-scale fields, and concrete intra-field canals with a length of more than 10 km...

Thanks to the contributions of comrade Nguyen Duc Tu and the team of cadres and grassroots party members, Hamlet 9, Dien Loi commune has 60% of rich and well-off households, building a high-quality specialized rice area of ​​35 hectares, a color and aquaculture area of ​​3 hectares. With those contributions, the achievements of Hamlet 9 Party Cell have been maintained, continuously achieving the title of clean and strong for 20 consecutive years, the hamlet has maintained the title of Cultural Village from 2004 to present.
