Thong was sitting at the dining table watching the computer when Ngoc (cousin) suddenly came from behind and slashed the back of Thong's neck with a knife, causing the victim to fall to the ground.

On the morning of January 3, the Da Nang City Police Department is temporarily detaining Tran Mien Ngoc (23 years old, residing in group 14E, Hoa Phat ward, Cam Le) for murder. The murdered victim is Nguyen Van Thong (19 years old, student, from Vinh city, Nghe An province, who was staying at Ngoc's parents' house to go to school).

According to initial information, the victim Nguyen Van Thong called Tran Mien Ngoc's mother his aunt. In August 2016, Thong came from Nghe An to Da Nang and asked to stay at Ngoc's parents' house to study at Da Nang University of Economics.

After a few days back home for the New Year holiday, on the morning of January 2, Thong returned to his aunt's house in Da Nang. At around 11:30 a.m. that same day, Thong was sitting at the dining table watching the computer when Ngoc suddenly came from behind and slashed Thong's neck with a knife, causing the victim to fall to the ground, blood gushing out.

At this time, Ms. N., Ngoc's wife, discovered the incident and was startled and screamed, so Ngoc's father, Mr. Con, ran down from the living room and grabbed the knife from Ngoc's hand. Mr. Con used a cloth to bandage Thong's wound and called the Da Nang Emergency Center for assistance, but the victim died due to severe injuries.

After committing the crime, Ngoc went to bed, covered himself with a blanket and lay still. When the Hoa Phat police arrived at the scene, Ngoc was restrained but his expression was calm, as if nothing had happened.

According to her family, Ngoc recently got married and gave birth to her first child 17 months ago. Ngoc works as a worker in a plastic factory near her home, earning around 4 million VND/month.

Recently, Ngoc quit his job and showed strange signs such as crying often, burning incense everywhere. At night, Ngoc could not sleep, wandered in the rain and did not eat or drink anything. Mr. Con's family planned to take their son to the Da Nang Mental Hospital for a check-up after Ngoc's brother's death anniversary on January 2.

At around 10am on January 2nd, a neighbor discovered Ngoc wandering in the rain and called Mr. Con to take him home. When he got home, Ngoc went to bed, covered himself with a blanket and slept until 11:30am, then suddenly went to the kitchen, took a knife and slashed Thong to death.

According to Hoa Phat Ward Police, Ngoc was a bad teenager when he was young, breaking the law many times, including causing trouble and fighting. In 2009, Ngoc was slashed by two local youths, injuring his left hand, head and right knee. When he got married, seeing that Ngoc had a stable job, Hoa Phat Ward Police removed him from their management.

Some witnesses added that after killing Thong, Ngoc told his wife to kneel down in front of him and asked if she was satisfied. And on the way to the Hoa Phat Ward Police Station to assist in the investigation, Ngoc admitted that he was sent by the "Jade Emperor" to the human world to kill 3 people during this Tet holiday. In addition to the victim Thong, Ngoc also said he would kill Mr. Con and 1 other person.

At Hoa Phat Ward Police Station, Ngoc pounded his fist on the table and cried continuously. Suspecting that Ngoc was high on drugs, Hoa Phat Ward Police conducted a quick drug test but determined that the subject was negative for synthetic drugs.

According to Mr. Con's family, during Thong's stay, Thong and Ngoc had a good relationship and no conflicts occurred. When Thong first arrived in Da Nang and did not know the way, Ngoc often used a motorbike to take Thong for trips.

In the evening of the same day, the Da Nang City Police Department arrested Tran Mien Ngoc to continue investigating and clarifying the act of "Murder" under Article 93 of the Penal Code. The case is under further investigation and clarification.
