According to Iraqi police, the explosion occurred on the morning of September 17 at a security checkpoint near a suspension bridge over the Tigrit River, one of the gateways to the "green zone."

The car bomb while waiting in line for security check suddenly revved up and exploded.

The explosion killed two soldiers and injured a member of parliament and his assistant.

Police quickly sealed off the entire area where the incident occurred.

This is the latest attack to hit the center of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

A day earlier, a car also exploded near a funeral in Al-Hamza village, south of Baghdad, killing one person and injuring 15 others./.
