The bombing is the latest in a wave of attacks in Afghanistan launched by Taliban insurgents and their allies since most foreign troops withdrew from Afghanistan late last year.
Aleem Fedaee, governor of Logar province, where the explosion occurred, said: "The bomb was very powerful and was carried by a truck. The bombing caused a lot of damage to civilians and broke windows up to 1 km away."
The dead included three soldiers and three civilians. Thirteen other injured people were taken to a hospital about 200 meters from the scene of the explosion, a doctor at the hospital said. He added that the explosion also injured 11 doctors at the hospital.
According to UN figures, there were nearly 5,000 Afghan civilian casualties in the first half of this year. According to the report, 70% of the casualties were caused by the Taliban and other insurgent groups, mainly through suicide attacks and improvised explosive devices. Meanwhile, 15% of the casualties were caused by the Afghan National Security Forces and pro-government armed groups, and 1% of the casualties were caused by international troops.
