Horrific petrol bomb attack in Bangladesh, 7 people burned to death

AFP/THX reported that Bangladeshi police said early on February 3, suspected anti-government protesters threw a petrol bomb at a bus full of sleeping passengers, killing at least 7 people and injuring 16 others amid worsening political unrest in the country.

The bus was attacked in the town of Chuddogram, eastern Bangladesh, police said."Seven passengers were burnt in the petrol bomb attack. At least 10 people were injured and five passengers are fighting for their lives with burns ranging from 40 to 80 percent," said Tuttul Chakrabarty, the town's police chief. "They have been shifted to a hospital in the capital Dhaka."

The incident brought the death toll in protests launched by opposition leader Khaleda Zia last month to 53, with hundreds more injured - mostly in petrol bomb attacks on buses, coaches, trucks and cars./.
