Evaluating the effectiveness of policies to support investment in agricultural development
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of July 24, the Provincial Agricultural Competitiveness Project Management Board (CR-4518-VN) held a workshop to evaluate the implementation of policies to support investment in agricultural and rural development in the 2010-2013 period.
In recent times, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An has actively advised the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee to issue many policies to support investment and encourage production development in the direction of restructuring the Agriculture and Rural Development sector. As a result, in the 4 years from 2010 to 2013, 23 policies to support and invest in agricultural and rural development were implemented, attracting over 261 billion VND from the provincial budget.
Specifically: policies to subsidize hybrid rice and corn varieties, support for peanut development, tea development, pineapple development, development of rattan, rubber, and mulberry raw material areas, policies to develop salt industry, support for purchasing agricultural machinery, development of cattle and buffalo breeding, development of aquaculture, development of farm economy....
The policies have helped farmers reduce difficulties, contributing to promoting production development and increasing productivity. By the end of 2012, winter corn yield increased to 1.3 tons/ha, output increased by over 87% compared to the same period, spring rice yield reached the highest ever, averaging over 6.5 tons/ha, the area of peanuts covered with nylon increased by 6 tons/ha compared to normal peanuts, total food output reached over 1.1 million tons, up 8.16% compared to 2010.

In 3 years, the province has planned over 2,500 hectares of raw tea concentrated in Anh Son, Thanh Chuong, Ky Son, especially the 300-hectare model of clean Tuyet Shan tea in Ky Son which has been highly appreciated by consumers. Thanks to support and investment in livestock and veterinary development, Nghe An now has the largest herd of buffalo and cows in the country, of which crossbred cows account for over 41%, and the herd of dairy cows and calves reaches over 31,000. The output of fish and shrimp fry has reached over 900 million. In particular, from 2012 to now, the whole province has deployed 68 "large-scale fields" to produce rice, corn, and peanuts using high technology, with productivity and output expected to increase by 10-15% compared to the mass...
The opinions discussed and exchanged by the delegates attending the workshop proposed a number of policies such as subsidizing hybrid rice and corn seeds, purchasing agricultural machinery, policies for localities to provide 50% of the support funding, subsidizing crop seeds, supporting fishing boat interest rates, increasing the level of support for fisheries policies, salt production, developing bamboo and rattan, supporting and creating all favorable conditions for localities to implement the construction of large-scale model fields...
