Overview of the workshop.

Up to now, Nghe An is the first province among the 8 provinces participating in the project to build 2 pilot models in the first phase and are the first models to receive the World Bank's non-objection to the Co-management Plan. These are 2 coastal fisheries co-management groups in Quynh Lap commune and Quynh Phuong ward (Hoang Mai town).

In addition, 2 models have completed the project introduction and dissemination step and completed the construction of community profiles: Quynh Long (Quynh Luu) and Dien Kim (Dien Chau); 6 models have conducted surveys and selection and have been approved by the World Bank, of which 4 models started implementation from September 2014 including: Tien Thuy (Quynh Luu); Dien Hai, Dien Thinh (Dien Chau), Nghi Tien (Nghi Loc) and 2 models started implementation from 2015 including: Dien Trung (Dien Chau), Nghi Thiet (Nghi Loc).

At the workshop, solutions were proposed to improve the effectiveness of the model in the coming time, namely: Local authorities at the commune level, associations and unions need to coordinate and support to facilitate the process of organizing and arranging work with the community to shorten the time for collecting community information; The dissemination and introduction of the project to the community needs to be flexible in both form and time to ensure that it does not affect the production and daily life of the people; The information collection process can be conducted by interviewing households directly, without necessarily having to hold community meetings;...

The coastal fisheries co-management model is an activity under Component C of the Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development (CRSD) Project funded by the World Bank. With the goal of ensuring sustainable coastal fisheries management, the model is implemented in 8 pilot provinces of the project (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Soc Trang and Ca Mau).
