Evaluation of the demonstration model of hybrid rice variety Xuyen Huong 178 in Dien Chau
(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, May 16, in Dien Chau, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An, the People's Committee of Dien Chau district coordinated with the Southern Seed Joint Stock Company and the North Nghe An Import-Export Trading Joint Stock Company to organize a conference to evaluate the demonstration model of the Xuyen Huong 178 hybrid rice variety.
Xuyen Huong hybrid rice is a 3-line hybrid rice variety bred by China and put into production in Nghe An since the spring crop of 2010. It has potential and a yield of 11-12 tons/ha, if well cultivated.
In the spring crop of 2012, Dien Chau district cooperated with the Southern Seed Joint Stock Company to produce a trial of the 3-line hybrid rice variety Xuyen Huong 178 on an area of 2 hectares in Dien Dong commune, with the control variety being the hybrid rice variety Khai Phong No. 1. Through monitoring, it was shown that the Xuyen Huong 178 rice variety has a growth period about 5 days shorter than the control variety (from 130-135 days in the spring crop and 105-110 days in the summer-autumn crop), is a highly intensive variety, adapts well to flat and low-lying soil, is relatively free of pests and diseases, has the same tillering ability as the control variety, and has a high percentage of solid grains./.
