Hanoi is urgently preparing, 4 gas stations will pilot the sale of E10 gasoline from August 1, marking an important step in the roadmap for using biofuel nationwide.
E10 Gasoline: An Important First Step for Green Urbanization in Hanoi
In Hanoi, Vietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) will pilot E10 gasoline sales at 4 locations:
Thai Thinh Gas Station (No. 194 Thai Thinh, Dong Da),
Lien Ninh Gas Station (Km15, National Highway 1A, Ngoc Hoi),
Nghia Tan Gas Station (No. 148 Hoang Quoc Viet, Nghia Do),
Chau Can Gas Station (Km42, National Highway 1A, Chuyen My).
In addition to Hanoi, PVOIL also started selling E10 gasoline at two stores in Hai Phong. In Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) will pilot the sale at 36 stores from August 1, 2025.
As of July 29, PVOIL's gas stations have completed upgrading infrastructure and training staff. A representative of Nghia Tan gas station shared that many preparation steps were urgently carried out, including: preparing goods, dredging and cleaning E5 gasoline tanks to import E10 gasoline, re-inspecting the system and identifying the brand at the pumps.
Mr. Cao Hoai Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVOIL, informed that the pilot implementation of selling E10 RON95 gasoline from August 1, 2025 will help customers get used to the new fuel and avoid "shock" during the transition process.
PVOIL also renovated E5 RON92 gasoline blending stations to meet the business needs of E10 RON95 gasoline, including repairing tanks, improving the blending system and updating technology.
PVOIL will closely coordinate with PVN's member units, such as Binh Son Refinery (BSR) and Nghi Son Refinery/PVNDB, to ensure a stable supply of ethanol (E100), optimize costs and meet market demand.
Outstanding benefits of E10 gasoline
E10 biofuel, with 10% bioethanol and 90% mineral gasoline, is an important solution to reduce CO₂ emissions, promote ethanol agriculture and diversify energy supplies.
Domestic and international studies show that ethanol has a high oxygen content, improves the combustion process and reduces carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions by up to 20% compared to mineral gasoline. This contributes to reducing air pollution and the greenhouse effect.
This fuel is considered compatible with most current gasoline engines, according to domestic research and recommendations from international organizations such as the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA). More than 60 countries, including the US and Europe, have widely used E10 gasoline, even enacting laws mandating the use of biofuel.
