According to the latest data from Hanoi Drainage Company Limited, the circulation of storm No. 10 has caused heavy rain over a large area in the capital.
In a short period of just two hours, many areas recorded extremely heavy rainfall, exceeding the 150 mm threshold.
From 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the total rainfall measured at some stations increased sharply: O Cho Dua ward recorded 319.6 mm, Vinh Thanh commune reached 310.5 mm, Hai Ba Trung ward 195.3 mm, Tay Ho ward 190 mm, Thanh Tri commune 166.5 mm and Thanh Xuan ward 165.1 mm.
Due to the heavy rainfall in a short period of time, the drainage system in Hanoi was quickly overloaded. Up to 65 flooded areas appeared in the whole city, greatly affecting traffic and people's daily life.
The flooded areas are mainly located in low-lying streets where the drainage system has not been able to cope with the heavy rainfall.
