Official list of the International Coalition against IS
(Baonghean.vn) - The US announced that more than 40 countries will join the coalition against the jihadists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Of these, 25 countries have been made public in a list of the State Department. The remaining countries will secretly cooperate in various fields: diplomacy, training, military assistance, blocking the financial network and recruitment of IS.

The US has carried out 148 bombing raids since August 8 in northern and western Iraq, deploying more than 800,000 military advisers and troops to protect the embassy in Baghdad and support the Iraqi army. On September 24, US President Barack Obama will chair a UN Security Council meeting to discuss the threat from foreign jihadists operating in Iraq and Syria.
Canada has sent dozens of troops to northern Iraq for 30 days (with the possibility of extension), along with US troops advising the Kurds.
France has been supplying weapons and transporting 58 tons of humanitarian aid to the Erbil region for a month now. French President Francois Hollande will travel to Iraq on September 12, and stressed last week "the importance of a political, humanitarian and, if necessary, military response, in full respect of international law." According to diplomatic sources, Paris' participation in the airstrikes is very possible, but no announcement has been made.
The UK, a leading coalition partner, delivered 4/10 heavy machine guns and ammunition to Kurdish forces. The British are also providing training and advice, and are considering airstrikes but have not yet made a formal decision.
Australia is working alongside the Americans to provide military equipment, weapons, ammunition and humanitarian aid through the Royal Air Force. Canberra is not sending troops to combat but is planning to send military advisers and trainers to the Middle East.
Germany plans to send three batches of weapons to the Kurds: 30 anti-tank missile systems, 16,000 rifles, 8,000 pistols.
Italy sent machine guns and light weapons (30,000 kalachnikovs and anti-tank grenades) on Wednesday, September 10. It is known that these were weapons confiscated 20 years ago on a ship bound for the former Yugoslavia.
Albania, Poland, Denmark and Estonia will also send military equipment.
Saudi Arabia pledged $500 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Saudi Arabia also declared jihadists "enemy number one of Islam."
About 15 other countries, including Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, Japan, Norway and Denmark, pledged donations to humanitarian organizations under the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Gulf states such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia; Egypt, Jordan, Türkiye, Lebanon will meet on Thursday, September 11 with US Secretary of State John Kerry. These countries pledged to cooperate politically and logistically in the fight against IS.
Iran has been involved in helping and advising the Kurds against jihadists but has said it will not cooperate with the US. In response, the US has also rejected any cooperation with Tehran as well as with the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad, which Tehran supports. (Le monde September 9)
