Nghi Khanh Commune (Nghi Loc) has recently promoted growing peach trees for Tet. Mr. Phung Thanh Thuong in Khanh Dong Hamlet, Nghi Khanh Commune - a household with many years of experience growing peach trees said: Last year, around the 10th of December, peach trees would shed their leaves, then bud and bloom. However, this year, although he used technical measures to care for and prune the branches and water the peach trees so that they would bloom on time. However, due to heavy rain at the beginning of the season and warm weather at the end of the season, the peach trees bloomed earlier. His family planted 50 trees in a 500 m2 garden, but now the peach trees have bloomed a lot. The price of peach trees this year has not increased compared to last year. Buying at the garden with the most beautiful roots is only 3 million VND, the remaining 200,000 - 300,000 VND/branch.

Mr. Thuong shared: “These days, there are a lot of visitors coming to visit and buy. But most of them just pay the price and deposit, then leave the peaches in the garden and wait until the day before Tet to pick them up. Last year, with the same area, we earned 50 million VND. But this year, the peaches bloomed so early, I don’t know if we can sell them all.”

Walking around the peach gardens in Nghi Khanh commune, the atmosphere of buyers and sellers is very bustling, everyone wants to find beautiful peaches but it is not easy. Mr. Vo Thanh Tung, a customer who seems to come here every year to buy peaches, expressed: "I find the peaches here have reasonable prices, the farmers are enthusiastic to please customers. This is the third Tet I have bought peaches here but this year the flowers have bloomed quite a lot."

In the past five years, peach trees in Nghi Khanh have become a high-income commercial crop, not only helping many households here have a more prosperous life and a more fulfilling Tet holiday, but also contributing to brightening the economic picture of the commune. Currently, Nghi Khanh commune has 5 peach growing hamlets including Khanh Dong, Khanh Thinh, Khanh Den, Khanh Trung and Khanh Tan hamlets with nearly 300 households growing peach trees for commercial purposes, the largest household has up to 100 trees; the smallest household has a few dozen trees.

Nghi Khanh peach trees have gradually become a brand name inside and outside the district, especially among peach connoisseurs. Seeing the effectiveness of peach growing, people in the hamlets actively propagate and grow them for business. Many well-off families have become rich from this profession. On average, each peach growing season, each household earns from 30-70 million VND. In total, each Tet season, Nghi Khanh peach village earns over 10 billion VND from peach sales.
