'Mad Max' director to chair 2016 Cannes Film Festival jury

The father of the action blockbuster Mad Max - George Miller has just had the honor of sitting in the position of President of the jury of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

The Australian director will lead the panel of judges at the Cannes Film Festival from May 11 to 22, deciding which films will be honored. He will also personally present the Palme d'Or for best work at the closing ceremony.

The 70-year-old “captain” will be the first Australian to have the honor of chairing a film festival in the world. George Miller said: “It is a real honor to be on the jury of such a major film festival.”

George Miller is currently one of the world's leading action film directors. Born and raised in Queensland, Australia. In 1979, George Miller released his debut work Mad Max and created a certain influence in the post-apocalyptic action film genre.
