According to local legend, there was once an ancestor of the Vang family named Vang Li On, who belonged to the wealthy class of this mountainous region. The village was living in peace and prosperity when the enemy came to drive out and plunder, forcing the people to flee, hiding their wealth and belongings. However, because the enemy occupied the village for so long, Vang Li On and many other families could not return to the village. Local people also did not know where he had hidden his wealth.
