Heroin smuggler caught on 'cross-Vietnam' flight in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Hai took a plane from Tan Son Nhat to Nghe An and then bought 4 heroin cakes, put them in a bag in front of his stomach to bring to the South to sell but could not get past the authorities.
According to the records, on the night of February 8, 2020, Hai brought a lot of money, flew from Tan Son Nhat airport (HCMC) to Vinh airport, then took a bus to Yen Ly intersection (Dien Chau district) to rent a room at a motel. The next morning, Hai checked out and took a bus to Que Phong district (Nghe An) to "pick up the goods".

At around 1:00 p.m. on February 9, 2020, when Hai returned to Dien Ngoc commune (Dien Chau district) and was waiting to catch a bus to the South, Task Force No. 2, in coordination with Task Force 1, the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention of the Border Guard, the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention, Hanh Dich Border Guard Station and Dien Thanh Border Guard Station, Nghe An Provincial Border Guard, broke up Project A2 1119 and arrested Hai.
At the trial, defendant Hai confessed honestly, expressed remorse, and asked for a reduced sentence.
After considering aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the first instance trial panel sentenced Hai to life in prison for illegal drug trafficking.
