With a total of more than 1,600 species of trees, the whole Square is like a miniature forest because during his lifetime, he often said: "Spring is the Tree Planting Festival. Make the country more and more Springy". Every year, on the 5th day of the Lunar New Year, the Square's staff and workers organize the "Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho". Here, there are many types of trees planted by high-ranking leaders of the Party, State and friendly countries such as the banyan tree of General Secretary Nong Duc Manh planted on May 18, 2003 - the inauguration day of Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Monument; the banyan tree of President Nguyen Minh Triet planted on July 22, 2006; the Bodhi tree of comrade Tran Duc Luong - former President planted on December 5, 2003; The Chò chỉ tree was planted by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on August 8, 2004; the black star tree was planted by comrade Phang duong chit Vong xa - Minister of Culture and Sports of Laos on May 31, 2003; the red frangipani tree was planted by comrade Tong Yen Tho - Vice Chairman of the Lao People's Democratic Republic National Construction Front Committee on June 6, 2003... To better perform their duties, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho Monument has directly assigned professional tasks according to each field such as a 24/24 security team (this team has 27 people divided into 2 shifts); a visitor security team of 9 people; a technical team in charge of sound, light, and water fountains of 5 people; an environmental sanitation team of 6 people... In 2006 alone, the Square served 3.5 million visitors, including 337 international delegations; 1,246 domestic delegations. In addition, the Square's loudspeaker system regularly propagates environmental protection awareness, healthy cultural lifestyles as well as regulations when visiting, contributing to preserving the landscape and environment. During holidays, propaganda work is further promoted in many forms such as hanging flags, banners, slogans, billboards, posters and loudspeakers with appropriate content and themes. To prepare for the 50th anniversary of Uncle Ho's first visit to his hometown (June 14, 1957 - June 14, 2007), the Square will be the main venue for activities such as: welcoming delegations from the Central and other provinces to offer flowers, incense, and plant souvenir trees; organizing meetings with witnesses who met Uncle Ho during his two visits to his hometown; reading propaganda articles on the theme "Uncle Ho with his homeland" on loudspeakers; The Square is open to visitors for sightseeing, entertainment and recreation day and night with a landscape that is always green - clean - beautiful - safe.
