Gold auctions pull prices down
After the auction, domestic gold price dropped by 200,000 VND even though international price remained almost unchanged.
This morning, the State Bank held the 48th auction. 22 units including 5 enterprises and 17 banks participated.
The floor price of 37.95 million VND is much lower than the reference price announced yesterday afternoon, 38.15 million VND. This price is also equivalent to the purchase price on the market at the same time. All 22 enterprises and banks participated in writing the tickets, many units registered to buy at the maximum level.
Domestic gold prices narrowed compared to world prices this morning, but the difference is still high at 4.2 million VND.
17 units won the bid, buying the most 3,000 taels and the least 1,000 taels. The highest and lowest winning prices were 38.08 and 38 million VND. All 26,000 taels offered for bid were purchased, bringing the total volume of gold successfully sold after 48 sessions to 1,297,400 taels, equivalent to 49.9 tons.
Gold prices in the market cooled down slightly this afternoon. At 12 noon, the selling price was 38.2 million VND, down 200,000 VND compared to the beginning of the day. Meanwhile, the international market remained almost unchanged compared to the opening. The gap between the two markets narrowed to 4.2 million VND, compared to 4.5 million VND at the beginning of the week.
