Investing nearly 250 billion to upgrade Terminal T1 of Noi Bai airport
The repair and upgrade of passenger terminal T1 (domestic passenger terminal) of Noi Bai International Airport is expected to begin from July 11.
In order to improve the quality of passenger service and increase the operating capacity of the T1 passenger terminal to serve 15 million passengers/year, starting from July 11, Noi Bai International Airport will repair and upgrade this terminal. The construction is expected to end in March 2018.
With a total investment of nearly 244 billion VND for the renovation and upgrading, the T1 passenger terminal will re-plan the exploitation area to ensure the operation chain of the domestic airport. At the same time, improve the service quality and meet the number of domestic passengers through T1 terminal to reach 15 million passengers/year by 2018.
In addition, the site plan is re-planned to ensure the station's operational process; the interior and exterior are fundamentally renovated to create a spacious appearance to improve the quality of passenger service.
Along with that, T1 terminal will also be renovated and upgraded some of the mechanical and electrical systems and terminal equipment that are degraded or not guaranteed to operate and function, and additional bus gates will be opened to meet the number of domestic passengers.

Passenger Terminal T1 has been operating since October 2001 with an initial design consisting of 4 areas (halls A, B, C, D), serving capacity of 6 million passengers/year.
By the end of 2013, Hall E (an extension of Terminal T1) with a capacity of 3 million passengers/year was put into use, increasing the service capacity of Terminal T1 to 9 million passengers/year.
However, at that time Noi Bai International Airport served more than 12.8 million passengers.
