According to the statement of the Turkish Prosecutor's Office, the last login to the Gmail address of Mevlut Mert Altyntash, the killer of Ambassador Andrei Karlov, was made on the territory of one of the student dormitories in Northern Cyprus. All information on his email was deleted after the murder.
Police speculate that his "accomplice from the FETÖ structure" helped him delete the information on the email, which is believed to be the person who ordered the assassination of Karlov. Currently, the Counter-Terrorism Service and the Prosecutor's Office are studying the list of students living in this dormitory.
In addition, as the newspaper said, the Prosecutor's Office had previously asked Apple Corporation for help in unlocking the password to the mobile phone of the killer of the Russian Ambassador, but was refused.
The Prosecutor's Office is currently negotiating with a Turkish company; the company has asked for a $20,000 fee for the job, regardless of whether the phone is successfully unlocked or not.
Having gained access to the messages on the killer's phone, the Prosecutor's Office expects to find out the identity of one or more people who ordered Altynash to murder the Russian Ambassador or traces of the organizers of this assassination.
