Teaching music, folk dance and performing Thai traditional musical instruments
(Baonghean) -The Vietnam Institute of Musicology, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An and the cultural sectors of Ky Son and Con Cuong districts, organizes classes to teach music, folk dance and traditional musical instrument performances.
In Son Ha village (Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district), through classes, artisans focus on teaching folk melodies such as cu xia, lu tau, ru con; dances in funeral ceremonies and how to use musical instruments such as tra keng, ly dau, tra da, and tra co, which are traditional cultural features of the Mong ethnic group.
In Huoi Tho village (Huu Kiem commune), the class focuses on teaching melodies of Tom, Re Re, and Lullabies; housewarming dances, rer rer dances (religious dances) and how to use musical instruments such as Tot Pi, Tot Tom, Tot Mui, and Dao Dao, which are traditional cultural features of the Khmu people. Each class attracts over 15 students, taught by artisans in the Ky Son area for two weeks (from September 15 to 29, 2009).
In Con Cuong district, a class teaching music, folk dance and performing Thai ethnic musical instruments was held in Mon Son commune. The content focused on teaching folk melodies from all over the world, all over the festival, lam, nhon, xuoi, lullabies; bamboo dances, phon dances (gong), khen dances and how to use musical instruments such as xo lo, tap tinh, khen be, gong, xap xeng, khac luong, pi lang... The class attracted 15 students, taught by artisans in the commune, opened on September 16, 2009 and is expected to end on September 30, 2009.
